Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend movie revealed a main trailer on Monday. It is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 16. The upcoming movie is a sequel to Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, which concluded in September 2025.
CloverWorks returns to animate the conclusion to the series. They also previously handled the prequels such as Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, and Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus. The voice cast includes:
- Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima
- Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa
- Reina Ueda as Mini-Skirt Santa
- Yurika Kubo as Kaede Azusagawa
- Nao Toyama as Tomoe Koga
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Rio Futaba
- Maaya Uchida as Nodoka Toyohama
- Inori Minase as Shoko Makinohara
- Sora Amamiya as Uzuki Hirokawa
- Aya Yamane as Ikumi Akagi
- Konomi Kohara as Sara Himeji
- Manaka Iwami as Miori Mito
The Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series was written by Hajime Kamoshida, while Keji Mizoguchi drew the illustrations for it. ASCII Media Works began publishing it under their Dengeki Bunko imprint in April 2014. The final volume was released on October 10, 2024, marking the end of the novel after 10 years of serialization.
