To mark the birthday of Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira in Demon Slayer, animation studio ufotable revealed a new commemorative illustration for 2026. Himejima’s birthday falls on August 23.
The character only briefly appeared in the first Infinity Castle movie, which recently officially began streaming online alongside its Japanese Blu-ray release.
Ufotable frequently releases seasonal and character-focused artwork to celebrate big occasions, such as Christmas, New Year, or Valentine’s Day, or character birthdays. Just earlier this month, Muichiro Tokito received his own special illustration for his birthday.

Following its success, the sequel movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train followed in October 2020 and arguably began the entire anime movie boom. The movie was then re-edited and shown as part of the 18-episode Season 2, which aired from October 2021 to February 2022. The 11-episode Season 3 aired from April to June 2023, while Season 4 aired from May to June 2024 and set the stage for the endgame.
The first part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy premiered in Japan on July 18, 2025 and then went on a record-breaking run, earning over 25 billion yen (approximately 174 million USD) in the first 31 days.
Following its domestic debut, it launched internationally on August 14, hitting North American theaters on September 12 and breaking even more records. It film expanded to SCREENX and ULTRA 4DX screenings in Japan starting on February 20. This marked the franchise’s first entry into multi-screen and immersive 4DX formats.
