The anime adaptation of Garena’s battle royale game Free Fire has officially been titled Free Fire Daybreak and is set to premiere in Spring 2027. Garena and KADOKAWA announced the news alongside the anime’s first key visual, with the official promotional trailer scheduled to premiere soon.
Co-produced through a joint investment by Garena and KADOKAWA, the series will air and stream worldwide, including in Japan. The newly released key visual features protagonist Kelly alongside Hayato and Moco. The anime was first announced in May 2024, while the first teaser came in July 2025.
The official synopsis:
In the near-future city of New Dawn, ruled by the powerful Horizon Corporation, 16-year-old Kelly becomes entangled in the experimental “Project Bloom” and awakens “Limit Break”, an extraordinary ability capable of unlocking anything that has been sealed away.
As fragments of her past begin to resurface, Kelly joins newfound allies to uncover the conspiracy surrounding Horizon Corporation and confront the forces threatening the future of New Dawn.
What fate lies ahead?
Coming in Spring 2027, Free Fire Daybreak, an all-new superpowered battle-action anime where the fight for truth, friendship, and the future of New Dawn begins.
The anime is being produced by studio CANDYBOX, with Ken Takahashi directing, Hotaru Asafuji handling the series composition and screenplay, and Kouji Fujimoto (Sus4 Inc.) composing the music.
Originally released in 2017, Free Fire is one of the world’s most successful mobile battle royale games. According to Garena, it has been the most downloaded mobile game in its genre for seven consecutive years and has ranked among the most downloaded mobile games worldwide across multiple years since 2019.
