After 13 years, the anime adaptation of Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is ending. Fate/kaleid’s production committee announced that Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Finale, a TV anime sequel to Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya: Licht Nameless Girl, will conclude the series. The anime will premiere next year.
Silver Link will produce Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Finale. The studio has adapted all of Fate/kaleid‘s previous anime. Likewise, several of the previous movie’s production staff will also reprise their roles. These include director Shin Onuma and character designer Kazuya Hirata. Hazuki Minase and Kenji Inoue will again contribute the anime’s script. Ken Takahashi will trade his role as assistant director for series director.
All three of the franchise’s main voice actresses will reprise their roles: Mai Kadowaki as Illyasviel von Einzbern, Kaori Nazuka as Miyu Edelfelt, and Chiwa Saito as Chloe von Einzbern.
The anime’s production committee has yet to announce new production or voice-acting staff for Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Finale.
The Fate/kaleid anime and films are based on Hiroshi Hiroyama’s manga. The manga are spin-offs of the Fate/Stay Night visual novel. Kadokawa’s Monthly Comp Ace serialized all three Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA manga. In 2012, they released a crossover special with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.
The latest manga in the series, Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 3rei!!, debuted in May 2012 and is currently ongoing. Kadokawa has compiled the manga into 14 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment releases an English omnibus version of the manga. The franchise also boasts a Nintendo DS game and a light novel.
