Fairy Tail Marks 20th Anniversary With Character Posters at Some of Japan’s Hottest Locations

Hiro Mashima’s FAIRY TAIL is continuing its 20th anniversary celebration with new character posters displayed at four railway stations in Japan.

A total of 10 different character posters are being displayed across JR Isesaki Station, JR Kumagaya Station, JR Shizuoka Station, and JR Gifu Station from August 10 until August 16. Five designs are being displayed at each location.

The locations were selected around a summer-themed connection to protagonist Natsu Dragneel, whose name is the Japanese word for summer, “natsu.” Each of the four areas has recorded temperatures exceeding 40°C during August.

The campaign arrives as the manga celebrates the 20th anniversary of its serialization, which began in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2006. Mashima is also currently publishing the new short-term serialization FAIRY TAIL RE:FANTASIA in Weekly Shonen Magazine as part of the anniversary.

Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, and it was his third major manga series after Rave Master and Edens Zero. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017, getting compiled into a total of 63 volumes. Kodansha USA licensed the series in English, and it’s available on K MANGA digitally. The story is described:

The manga received a TV adaptation of 328 episodes, along with numerous spin-offs, special episodes and movies. The sequel manga, FAIRY TAIL: 100 YEARS QUEST, got an adaptation of its own, which aired for 25 episodes from July 2024 to January 2025. The manga released Volume 24 on August 7.
