There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… Second Season Manga Debuts Early 2027

Following the conclusion of the WataNare manga, Eru Kudou has announced that they’ll illustrate the second part of the series. Shueisha’s planned continuation of There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… is scheduled for January or February 2026. The second part of the WataNare manga will be titled There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… Second Season.

Both manga are based the light novel by Teren Mikami (illustrations by Eku Takeshima). Musshu began adapting the light novel into a manga in May 2020. Shueisha’s Dash X Comic serialized the first part of the WataNare manga from its debut to July 2026. The publisher has compiled the manga into 9 volumes, two more will be released in the future. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in North America.

Eru Kudou’s other works include Miss Egushi’s Pure-hearted Succubus, a girl’s love manga published by Manga Time Kirara MAX. They also published Mikoto to Rei via their X account. Kadokawa later acquired the manga and published it as a single volume.

Studio Mother released a WataNare TV anime in July 2025 and a theatrical sequel in November of the same year. Remow’s It’s Anime YouTube channel streams the TV anime and theatrical film (as separate episodes).

There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… Synopsis

Middle school was a dark time for Renako Amaori. The bocchi-like teenager spent her days in solitude, never befriending anyone around her. So when the time came for Renako to enroll in high school, she decided that a normie life was her future. With that, Renako focused on developing her personality and physique, swiftly forming friendships with the popular girls at her new school. But when a mix-up results in Renako bearing her heart to one of her new “friends,” Rena-chi believes that she finally made an honest connection. However, where she expected her first best friend, she got her first romantic confession! And after that confession came another, and another… and… another.
