A new anime project for The Quintessential Quintuplets has been officially announced, confirming two upcoming productions: an anime adaptation of the sequel novel The Quintessential Quintuplets: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and a new OVA episode.
The announcement was made on May 2, 2026, during “The Quintessential Quintuplets SPECIAL EVENT 2026 in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO.” which featured appearances from the main cast, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Kana Hanazawa, Ayana Taketatsu, Miku Ito, Ayane Sakura, and Inori Minase
The novel, written by Hajime Asano under full supervision of original creator Negi Haruba, was a direct continuation of the original story. It is described as a canonical follow-up and is also planned to receive a manga adaptation.
The new OVA will adapt previously unanimated chapters from the original manga, expanding on content not covered in earlier anime. You can watch the trailer for the new anime below.
Negi Haruba wrote and illustrated the The Quintessential Quintuplets manga series, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2020. It ended with a total of 122 chapters, which were compiled into 14 volumes.
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired from January to March 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021, and they also animated the final movie. SHAFT animated both of the specials, with the first premiering in 2023 and the second one in 2024. The second one covered the events set after the wedding and Futaro’s honeymoon.
