The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE -Yotsuba Succession Arc- is officially coming to theaters in the United States and Canada. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release the film for three days only on November 1, 3 and 4, 2026, with both Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub available.
The film is the second theatrical entry in The Irregular at Magic High School franchise and continues the story after Season 3 of the TV anime, which aired in 2024. Jimmy Stone is directing the movie at animation studio Eight Bit, with the story based on Tsutomu Sato’s original light novel series. After the film premiered in Japan, production of the anime’s Part 2 was announced.
Yotsuba Succession Arc takes place in 2096 as Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba approach the winter of their second year at Magic High School. They get an invitation to the Yotsuba Clan’s New Year’s Banquet, where the family’s next head is set to be announced.
Miyuki faces the possibility of being selected as the Yotsuba Clan’s successor, a position that would require her to marry and potentially change her relationship with Tatsuya. At the same time, becoming clan head could give her the authority to change Tatsuya’s status as a Guardian.
The Irregular at Magic High School is a light novel series by Tsutomu Sato, first released online in 2008 before being published by Dengeki Bunko in 2011. Set in the 2090s, it follows siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba at First High School, where Miyuki excels while Tatsuya is dismissed as talentless despite his hidden (overpowered) abilities and secret ties to the powerful Yotsuba clan.
The series has expanded into a major franchise with multiple manga, anime seasons, and films beginning with the first anime in 2014. Sequels like Magian Company and spin-offs such as Maidens of Cygnus took the story beyond the high school setting, and the franchise has sold over 22 million copies worldwide. The most recent TV anime installment was Season 3, which aired from April to June 2024.
