New SYNXRO Project Aims to Turn Original Anime Openings Into Full Multimedia IPs

A new multimedia initiative called SYNXRO Project has launched with an unusual concept: creating original “fake anime openings” that can eventually grow into full anime, manga, or novel franchises.

The project’s first entry, Ishoku Shokushokuju (Clothing, Food, and Shelter), premiered on YouTube today with a complete anime opening sequence titled “Glass World’s End.” Rather than promoting an existing series, the video introduces an entirely original story created specifically as a proof of concept for a potential future IP.

The original story comes from manga creator Ken Sogen, while the opening theme was produced by DÉ DÉ MOUSE and performed by Hitomitoi. Animation was handled by pre_sktch, with editing and compositing by Wontama.

Set in a world devastated by global warming and wars over dwindling resources, Ishoku Shokushokuju follows 13-year-old Hotaru, a girl who has lost her memories and travels with a mobile food stall. In a world where gourmet cuisine has disappeared, she dreams of bringing ramen back to life, with the opening teasing a larger mystery that will follow her journey.

SYNXRO Project is organized by Japanese creative company KUROGO, with Kodansha Creators’ Lab supporting the project’s original story development. The initiative brings together writers, musicians, illustrators, animators, and video creators to collaboratively produce anime opening sequences for fictional series.

According to the project, works that receive strong audience support could later be expanded into full anime, manga, novels, or other multimedia adaptations. Five original opening projects are planned for throughout 2026, with music from each release also becoming available on streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.

The project says revenue generated by successful works will be distributed among participating creators, with the goal of building new intellectual properties through collaborative production rather than traditional publishing pipelines.
