Netflix revealed a new slate of animation updates during Anime NYC, including release dates for CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 and Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, the first key visual for THE ONE PIECE, a character trailer SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2, and more for several upcoming projects.
The announcements featured Japanese anime and other animated productions influenced by anime, with the latest updates including:
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Gets October 2026 Release Date
CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 will officially premiere on Netflix on October 20, 2026, with a new teaser trailer and images revealed.
The sequel is being produced as a new standalone 10-episode story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, rather than a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story from the original series. Netflix describes the new story as one centered on redemption and revenge in Night City.
The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered in 2022 with 10 episodes and was produced by TRIGGER in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Premieres in January 2027, Conclusion Set for 2028
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will release in January 2027, with Netflix releasing a new teaser and images from the upcoming season. The company also announced that production is underway on what it describes as the series’ “epic conclusion,” scheduled for 2028.
THE ONE PIECE Reveals New Key Art
Netflix revealed new key art for THE ONE PIECE, the upcoming anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga.
The series is being animated by WIT Studio and will adapt the story from the beginning, starting with the East Blue Saga. The project was originally announced in December 2023 and is separate from Toei Animation’s ongoing ONE PIECE TV anime.
Netflix previously released the first teaser trailer during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June.
LEGO ONE PIECE Gets Official Trailer
The two-part LEGO ONE PIECE animated special received its official trailer ahead of its September 29, 2026 Netflix premiere.
The special follows Usopp as he recounts the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures across the East Blue and into the Grand Line to Chopper. Members of Netflix’s live-action ONE PIECE cast reprise their characters as part of the voice cast, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
Atomic Cartoons is producing the project in collaboration with Shueisha and The LEGO Group.
FOOL NIGHT Reveals New Trailer and English Dub Cast
The upcoming Fool Night anime received a new teaser trailer and featurette, while Adam McArthur and Olivia Liang were announced for its English dub.
The anime adapts Kasumi Yasuda’s manga and marks the first animation production collaboration between SUNRISE and SHAFT. Atsushi Yukawa is directing, with Jin Tanaka handling series composition and Robert Sato designing the characters. Tatsuya Kato is composing the music.
The story takes place in a future where Earth is trapped beneath thick clouds and faces a severe oxygen shortage. Humanity has developed “Transfloration,” a process that transforms people approaching death into plants. Toshiro Kamiya, a young man living in poverty, eventually faces the decision of whether to undergo the procedure himself.
Koki Uchiyama and Minako Kotobuki are among the previously confirmed Japanese voice cast members.
SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 Gets New Character Trailer
SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 received a new character trailer as Netflix continues to promote the anime’s next chapter. The second season was officially announced in December 2025.
The anime is based on Yuto Suzuki’s manga, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020.
Bass X Machina Debuts Official Teaser
Netflix also released the official teaser trailer and new images for Bass X Machina, an adult animated series created by LeSean Thomas, with Brian Tyree Henry serving as an executive producer and voicing the lead character.
The series is inspired by the life of historical lawman Bass Reeves but places its story in a steampunk Western setting populated by mechanical and supernatural threats. Its protagonist is a father forced to act as judge, jury and executioner while attempting to protect his family.
Netflix previously presented Bass X Machina alongside its animation lineup at Annecy 2026.
