Oni Press and Magnetic Press have announced an English-language release of LOBA LOCA, a new graphic novel set in the MFKZ universe from creators Guillaume “Run” Renard and Guillaume Singelin. The project is being produced in partnership with France’s Label 619 and is now being funded through Kickstarter.
LOBA LOCA follows 17-year-old Guadalupe “Guada” Mayflower, whose life takes a turn after an outburst caught on camera leaves her under house arrest. While searching through her mother’s attic, she discovers a diary containing information about her family and the identity of her father.
The discovery sends Guada on a road trip through the city’s criminal underworld, bringing her into contact with luchadores, criminals and reality TV personalities as she investigates her family history. While connected to the MFKZ universe, the story focuses on Guada’s personal search for identity and teenage alienation.

Run created the Mutafukaz universe with the animated short Mutafukaz: Operation Blackhead, which later developed into a graphic novel series. It was subsequently adapted into the 2017 animated film Mutafukaz, released internationally as MFKZ. The film was produced by Ankama Animation and Studio 4°C and co-directed by Run and Shojiro Nishimi.
Singelin previously worked on the MFKZ animated film and has contributed to several Label 619 projects. His other work includes the graphic novels PTSD and The Grocery, as well as character design and illustration work for the video game Citizen Sleeper. Run is also currently developing MFK2, a sequel series within the franchise.
Magnetic Press will release LOBA LOCA in three physical editions: a standard softcover, Deluxe Hardcover and Limited Edition Slipcase Edition. The limited edition includes a foil-stamped textured slipcase, foil-stamped bookplate and an exclusive enamel pin set.
The LOBA LOCA Kickstarter campaign is now live.
