MAPPA will officially animate the anime adaptation of Coco Uzuki’s award-winning shojo manga Fall in Love, You False Angels. The TV anime was previously announced on June 11 and it is set to release some time in 2027. Today’s news arrived during MAPPA’s 15th anniversary presentation event, which revealed several other updates.
The manga follows Otogi Katsura, a girl admired by everyone around her as the perfect high school beauty. Determined to maintain that flawless image at all times, Otogi carefully hides her true personality from those around her.

This is not studio MAPPA’s first encounter with the shojo demographic. The studio was in charge of the Banana Fish TV anime in 2018. Although it’s often discussed as a crime and action series, Banana Fish was serialized in the shojo manga magazine Bessatsu Shojo Comic. In 2025, MAPPA animated the new film adaptation of The Rose of Versailles, directed by Ai Yoshimura. The film was released in Japanese theaters in January 2025 and later streamed on Netflix.
MAPPA announced its 15th anniversary project earlier this month, with the plan to share new information on its upcoming projects. Founded in 2011, the studio has been in charge of animating numerous hit titles including Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan Final Season, Hell’s Paradise, Yuri on Ice, and Vinland Saga.
The presentation included new information related to Chainsaw Man and Dorohedoro, as well as for numerous others. The production of Chainsaw Man International Assassins Arc and Dorohedoro Season 3 was previously confirmed. JUJUTSU KAISEN Season 4, titled the Culling Game Arc Part 2, is also in production.
The event also included segments dedicated to Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan Final Season, Oblivion Battery, and Ranma 1/2, with each one also having “new information” teased.
Originally launched in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in April 2023, Fall in Love, You False Angels (Koi Seyo Mayakashi Tenshi-domo) has become one of the publisher’s most popular recent shojo titles. In 2025, it won the 49th Kodansha Manga Award in the shojo category. Kodansha USA has the manga available in English, describing the first volume:
